Founded in 1971 by Merwin J. Ray, our 1st plant was located in Eminence, KY. Mr. Ray was a growth-oriented, visionary entrepreneur and his drive still permeates throughout the organization today. We continue to expand through Greenfields, strategic acquisitions and partnerships and have built a broad North American processing footprint. Steel Technologies is one of the largest Steel and Aluminum processors in North America. We traded on NASDAQ for 22 years prior to becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. (USA), Inc. in 2007. In 2010, Mitsui formed a joint venture with Nucor Corporation (NuMit) which now owns 100% of the Company. Steel Technologies operates as an independent business and has continued to expand and thrive under our new ownership. We are proud to be a part of the North American industrial supply chain. Our network of facilities service 2,500 customer locations from small privately held companies to some of the largest manufacturing companies in the world. Our broad capabilities and unmatched logistics allow us to cost effectively service our valued customers throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
