LOCATION: Algonquin Child Care Centre
59 Algonquin Rd Woodstock, ON N4T 1R8
START DATE: February 2024
HOURS: 35 hours per week
RATE OF PAY: $19.19 per hour during probationary period / $19.50 per hour upon completion of probation

POSITION SUMMARY
This is a unique role in which you have the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life through support and nutrition, and engagement in the early learning environment.


Your role as a Dietary Planner would be to purchase, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children in the Child Care Centre, under the direction of the Child Care Supervisor. This position will give you the opportunity to celebrate diversity on a daily basis through menu planning and implementation.


There will be times that you are scheduled to work in the early learning environment. Part of this role would be to provide support to your fellow Educators, and engage positively with the children in the program rooms.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
• Create menus utilizing current themes, diversity, interests, and accommodating all medical needs
• Prepare and serve snack and meals for children aged 0 – 3.8
• Provide support to the Educators and children in the early learning environment
• Comprehensive knowledge of all Safe Food Handling guidelines and best practice
• Maintaining a sanitary kitchen/serving space by following required routines
• Excellent communication skills: written, oral, listening and non-verbal
• Works as a co-operative and respectful member of the team
• Adhere to all licensing requirements as set out by the Child Care and Early Years Act
• Adhere to all policies and procedures as established by the Board of Directors of Good Beginnings
• Familiarity with the following curriculum/resources would also be an asset:
o How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years
o Child Care and Early Years Act

 

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

We are seeking to fill this position with a reliable, friendly and engaged professional. The successful candidate will be required to possess the following qualifications:
• Experienced and passionate about working with children
• Experienced in preparing and serving nutritious snacks and meals
• Education/training specific to working with children is considered a strong asset
• Current Certification in Standard First Aid (Level C), including Infant and Child CPR
• Current Police Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check
• Safe Food Handling Certificate
