Job Description

The Women’s Employment Resource Centre (WERC) is hiring a Manager. We are a not-for-profit organization providing employment services to women in Oxford County for the past 33 years.

 

As the leader of the Centre, the Manager leads all operational activities to build a positive workplace culture that aligns with our mission, vision and values. Additionally, the Manager oversees the implementation of the strategic plan set out by the Board of Directors. This role requires a commitment to continuously improve, adapt to changing community needs, and ensure a healthy, vibrant, and financially sustainable organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational management for all staff, financial and physical aspects of the organization.
  • Prepare financial and statistical reports required by funders at prescribed intervals.
  • Ensure services are reflective of current labour market and career development trends, specifically as it relates to the employability of women.
  • Recruit and manage staff in accordance with internal policies, procedures and legislative requirements.
  • Implement and sustain all functions of the annual performance management process, including goal setting, feedback and professional development.
  • Ensure the health and safety of staff and clients; develop and revise policies as required.
  • Report all pertinent financial, staff, and operational information to the Board.
  • Seek out and apply for funds/grants to ensure the continued operation of WERC.
  • Attend community/networking events to promote WERC services and develop strong community partnerships.

Education

Post Secondary Degree

Experience Required

Qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience in a small women’s non-profit entity preferred.
  • Solid understanding of business operations, financial/funding models, managing people, client profiles, risk management and board governance.
  • Experience working with gender-based violence (having worked closely with women in emergency shelters or second stage housing is an asset)
  • Champion a positive and satisfying work environment by exemplifying WERC’s core values.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, motivate, inspire, and engage employees.
  • Strong financial knowledge/experience in budgets, forecasting, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational abilities to prioritize, plan, and delegate for successful outcomes.
  • Previous experience in women’s employment counselling, adult education and client advocacy.
  • Able to build strong relationships, networks, and partnerships across various sectors.
  • Experience in fundraising, grant proposals, and securing resources is a strong asset.
  • Access to a vehicle, valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel.
