Job Description

YOUR ROLE IN OUR TEAM

The Purchasing Leader plays a crucial role in establishing the supply structure for raw in the plant. The person ensures the procurement of products at equitable prices and within the specified timelines by engaging with various approved suppliers. As a key participant in the process, the Purchasing Leader must excel in communication to foster positive relationships with both internal and external partners. In their capacity, this person is accountable for overseeing and adhering to delivery schedules until the arrival of stocks at the plant. The Purchasing Leader also oversees the responsibilities of the administrative agent.

THE CHALLENGES WE HAVE FOR YOU

  • Participate in the establishment of a coherent and efficient supply structure: make changes when necessary and develop this structure over time.
  • Analyze the needs of the different production machines and place purchase orders with suppliers according to established requirements.
  • Ensure fluid, two-way communication with internal and external customers in order to clearly identify issues and needs.
  • Take charge of tracking orders and suggest different feasible scenarios in the event of a deviation from the original plan.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications and commercial agreements with suppliers.
  • Make submission requests for new materials to be ordered.
  • Create and follow-up on “pick-up” requests with logistics.
  • Ensure updating prices, supplier files, contacts, in the MRP (AS400) and other monitoring tools. In this sense, the creation of monitoring tools and the implementation of systems are part of the job improvement tasks.
  • Monitor raw material inventories and adapt min-max. if needed.
  • Establish optimal business relationships with internal and external customers (suppliers).
  • Know and master the range of stocks: be an expert in your field.
  • Carry out the annual supplier evaluation (audit).
  • Must cover all administrative duties when the administrative assistant is not there.
  • Coordinating the work of the Administrative assistant, overseeing performance assessments and providing support for the various tasks to be carried out.
  • Planning and supervising workloads
  • All other related tasks.

THE SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Your Education

  • DEC or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, supply and logistics, GOP or relevant discipline.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in the field of procurement, including 1 to 3 years in an industrial environment.

Your Knowledge and Competencies

  • Excellent written and spoken English. French is an asset.
  • Knowledge of supply management tools (Master Plan, Min-Max, BO, etc.)
  • Mastery of Office Suite tools, notably Excel
  • Knowledge and ease in learning IT tools such as ERP, MRP, WMS

Your Skills and Abilities

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Usual schedule: 40 hours/week. Participation in certain activities with suppliers (evenings, weekends and holidays).
  • Very occasional trips to Canada and the United States. Visits to Soprema facilities and suppliers across North America (have a valid passport).
