Job Description

Position: Assistant Store Manager                            Reporting To: Store Manager

Location: Store                                                          Department: Sales and Service Shop 

POSITION OBJECTIVES

Service Component:

To develop and implement a service process that supports profitable sales and service growth, by providing the best possible customer service in our retail and commercial tire and wheel segments, including passenger, light truck, small off road, farm and industrial tires as well as automotive mechanical service.

To maximize shop efficiencies, motivate, educate and develop our Associates to meet / exceed our current and future service requirements.

To support the successful achievement of annual sales, margin, expense and profit objectives for the store.

Demonstrate and promote at all time the “Service Provider of Choice” philosophy

RESPONSIBILITIES

Health and Safety

Foster a work environment where Health and Safety the team’s number one priority – without exception!

Protect his/her own health and safety by working in compliance with Section 28 of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and with the safe operating policies and procedures established by the company which make up or written occupational health and safety program.

Consider health and Safety in every activity and fulfill the legal duty to report a contravention of the OHSA or the regulations, any workplace hazard or any defect in any equipment or protective device to the immediate supervisor or the employer.

Participate in and complete any required training programs.

Responsible and to be held accountable for the health and safety of workers under their supervision. In accordance with Section 27 of Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) ensure that machinery and equipment are safe and that employees under their supervision work in compliance with the OHSA and established Tirecraft safe operating policies and procedures.

Ensure workers under their supervision receive adequate training in their specific work tasks to protect their health and safety.

Ensure all new employees receive health and safety training, are aware of all potential hazards on the job and have been shown the proper use of tools and equipment before starting to work in the business. Validate all required certificates and licenses before allowing the employees to operate related equipment/vehicles.

Assistant Store Manager

Working with the Store Management Team, develop and implement customer service guidelines for in-shop, road and field service technicians.

Assist with the development of the store’s annual business plan, complete with sales, service, margin, expense and profit targets. Implement and monitor agreed upon programs, designed to achieve our annual objectives.

Manage sales and service at the front counter, with a strong focus on facilitating the best possible customer service. Maintain margins by selling at the prescribed retail pricing levels. Conduct tire sales and service, both at the counter and on the telephone.

Write up work orders for all sales and service transactions and present to the service technicians.

Supervise on site tire and wheel service as requested.

Manage “service call” telephone requests, write up work orders and dispatch service technician(s) accordingly. Return completed work orders to the Administrator, immediately following completion of sale/service – to ensure timely invoicing.

Invoice all product and service sales once complete and process payment immediately.

Co-ordinate assistance with tire warehouse duties including receiving, putting stock away, and/or pulling customer stock orders.

Maintain inventories of tire repair material, calcium, propane etc., at prescribed levels and ensure it is stored in an orderly and safe fashion.

Ensure the shop, warehouse, and outside storage, areas are kept clean and tidy.

Maintain a watchful eye on competitive retail pricing activities and record (in a pricing log) all price comparisons given by customers at the front counter. Review with sales and marketing on a regular basis so if necessary, corrective actions can be taken.

Complete product adjustments, including manufacturer claim forms, on a timely basis.

At the end of each day, ensure the cash is secured per Company policy, ensure the shop doors and trailer doors are closed, locked and the alarm system is functional. Also ensure the service vehicles are secured in the compound area.

Support the Manager with providing a safe work environment as well as adhering to all Company policies.

Develop and implement routine preventative maintenance for service vehicles and shop equipment including tow motors, hand tools, tire balancer, tire changers, tire spreaders, calcium pump and hoses and air compressor. Coordinate documentation of same with our retail administrator.

Hard Skills/Education Required

Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma or equivalent Computer literate and basis accounting knowledge Ability to grow business revenues and profits

Business Experience – Secure and manage Company assets while achieving Company ROI objectives

Communication and Problem solving skills Ability to engage the team

Maintain a professional and clean appearance at all times
