Overview of the Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for the manufacturing and bulk format finishing/packaging and finished good packaging of cheese and whey in accordance with the standards and safety objectives established by Senior Management of the Company. This position requires flexibility to work shifts outside regular scheduled shift to support with such things as audits and equipment tear downs/repair or to cover for supervisors as needed.

 

How you will make contributions that matter:

  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and GMPs to ensure the highest quality product possible.
  • Ensures KPI targets are achieved including safety, quality, efficiencies, cost, and health and safety.
  • Report shift performance using the metrics stablished by the management.
  • Provide leadership, direction, guidance, and support to the Production staff.
  • Develop positive, motivating, and efficient communication with all employees.
  • Maximize profitability of the Production department through efficient use of raw material, productive use of available labour and control of overhead costs.
  • Adhere to the Production schedule and adjust schedule as necessary when unexpected occurrences dictate.
  • Organize the Production labor schedule or modify it as needed.
  • Manage and update the raw material and ingredients inventory.
  • Have the necessary computer skills to be able to set up and/or adjust the blending programs (recipes) and work with the Maestro system.
  • Be familiar with Health & Safety, HACCP, and all other company policies and ensure that procedures are being followed.
  • Ensure safe conditions, housekeeping, and work procedures are updated within the work environment.
  • Ensure all documentation is filled out as directed by HACCP procedures and the Production Manager.
  • Report incidents (within or beyond their control) to QA or management.
  • Ensure all production process “occurrences” are recorded and reported accordingly.
  • Assist with resolution of breakdowns, give direction to maintenance staff, and provide information to assist in identifying causes.
  • Transport raw materials, finished products, and equipment throughout plant manually or using powered equipment.
  • When senior person in the plant, provide guidance to employees in other areas of the plant as needed.

 

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

  • Experience in food or any related industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven leadership skills and strong team orientation.
  • Business Administration degree or related course considered an asset.
  • Change management agent.
  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, results oriented and possess high degree of initiative, and work well with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and expertise on MS Office, Maestro, SAP, etc. considered an asset.
