Job Description
Due to an influx of projects, our General Contracting division is currently seeking to add an experienced Foreman to their team. Reporting to the Site Supervisor or General Superintendent, the General Contracting Working Foreman, will oversee and actively participate in construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You will lead a team of workers, coordinate with subcontractors, and communicate effectively with site supervisors, project managers, and clients to ensure quality workmanship and client satisfaction.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate the activities of construction workers on-site.
- Actively participate in construction tasks, including carpentry and lead other trades as necessary.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate implementation of project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols, conducting regular safety inspections and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Work with Site Supervisor to schedule and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and deliveries to maintain project timelines.
- Assist Site Supervisor in monitoring and track project progress, identifying and addressing any issues or delays promptly.
- Collaborate with site supervisor and project managers to develop and implement work plans and schedules.
- Communicate effectively with clients, addressing concerns, providing updates, and ensuring satisfaction with project progress and outcomes.
- Manage and maintain tools, equipment, and materials necessary for construction activities.
- Train and mentor construction workers, providing guidance on best practices, techniques, and safety procedures.
- Keep accurate records of project activities, including daily reports, materials used, and manpower hours.
- Support Site Supervisor to manage project budgets and expenses, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Read and check grades using a rotary builders level
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to company standards for cleanliness and professionalism.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices, continually seeking opportunities for professional development and improvement.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years experience as a safety conscience Site Supervisor or Forman
- Minimum 5 years experience construction experience, specifically in general contracting
- Must have G License and reliable transportation
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in construction management or related field is an asset.
- Skilled in carpentry is an asset
- OSHA certification is an asset
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and tools.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft software (excel, word, etc.) and emails
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
- Solid understanding of safety regulations and protocols, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Meticulous planning and organization skills for daily note taking of tasks, activities, production and workforce
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skill
