Reporting to:              Deputy Treasurer
Department:                Administrative Services
Classification:            PERMANENT Full Time; Non-Union
Salary Range:            $78, 882-$92, 802 (Subject to Job Evaluation after 6 months)
Hours of Work:      8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday
Starting Date:             July 4, 2024

Responsibilities:
1.  Payroll

  • Responsible for the bi-weekly payroll process
  • Required to meet all payroll deadlines and financial reporting deadlines
  • Provides assistance to payroll clerk related to multiple collective agreements
  • Knowledge of Ontario Municipal Employees’ Retirement System (OMERS),  Canada Revenue Agency, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and Employer Health Tax including reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of statutory holiday and vacation pay legislation and applicable collective agreements

2.  Financial Support and Reporting

  • Manages various online and counter cash receipts
  • Responsible for Revenue fund bank reconciliation
  • Maintains Reserve and Reserve Fund Information
  • Preparation of Month End statements and quarterly Council reports
  • Assists with year-end reporting including preparation of working papers and year end journal entries, trial balances and CaseWare

3.  Other

  • Analyses processes to identify and recommend areas of improvement
  • Assists with new software implementations
  • Undertakes financial analyses for various activities
  • Provides guidance on Perfect Mind software, TransitFare and HotSpot systems and various other online payments
  • Acts as a resource and provides training to staff on the e-timecard system
  • Acts as backup to the Deputy Treasurer, Accounting Coordinator (A/P & A/R) and Asset Management Accountant
  • Attends Council meetings as required
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Successful completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting or related program
  • Enrollment in the Chartered Professional Accountants program or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum of 1 year related experience in a similar position
  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to liaise with various City departments and suppliers.


Preferred:

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Diamond, CaseWare and Perfect Mind software
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
