Job Description
Community Employment Services is an Employment Ontario Agency providing Employment Services to residents of Oxford County. The Student Centre Coordinator position is a multi-faceted role responsible for the delivery of a wide range of employment support services which includes employability assessment, needs determination, career/employment counselling, case management and workshop facilitation for high school and post-secondary students.
Primary Duties:
- Work individually with clients to assess service needs, evaluate interests and transferable skills, and empower students with job search strategies
- Counsel, enhance self-esteem and provide support/encouragement to clients throughout the job search process
- Facilitate (virtually and in person) programs to students ages who require additional job search support when faced with school/life challenges
- Maintain consistent and accurate casefile data management
- Provide clients with information and referrals concerning appropriate community resources available
- Work collaboratively with other staff including Employment and Career Consultants, Employer Services Team, Settlement Services and other local social services/community organizations
- Provide mentorship to clients during process and throughout their employment
This opportunity runs from mid May-August 2024 with the expectation that the successful candidate enters or returns to their post-secondary studies in September.

Education
Experience Required
Education:
Enrolled in a related Post-Secondary School Program and returning in the fall of September
Experience/ Skills:
- Knowledge of successful job search strategies
- Sensitivity to, and understanding of, issues and barriers to employment faced by diverse socio-economic groups
- Group facilitation skills
- Problem solving skills and resourcefulness in meeting clients support needs
- Familiar with community resources in Oxford County
- Committed to collaborative team approach with a positive attitude towards change
- Empathetic and respectful; value confidentiality
- Possess the ability to motivate others and help them achieve their goals
- Excellent verbal, written communication, organization and customer service skills
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
