Summer Student - Maintenance/Kitchen Assistant

Duties & responsibilities:

•  Support the maintenance team by assisting with duties such as setting up, tearing down events including lifting tables, chairs, and fixtures, and gardening. 
• Some machine use, such as floor scrubbers and fogging machines. 
• Some painting, indoor and outdoor improvement tasks as needed.
•  Clean, sanitize washroom cleaning, kitchen cleaning, washing floors, and sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.
• Interaction with staff, members, and rentals. 
• Local Roots Café assisting with preparations of lunch menus, monthly weekend special events & frozen food services. 
• Assisting with food prep, freezer meal production, day to day clean up and delivery orders.
• take-out, drive thru, delivery orders & payments.
• Assist with “special events” (may include weekend and or evening)
• Effective communication with Team, Staff, volunteers, and customers 

Skills Required:  

• Computer Skills: Excellent analytical skills, very strong understanding of computers, working knowledge of Microsoft office suite; competency in data collection, project creation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in cash handling - involving accounting procedures, reconciliation, counting and managing receipts.
• Creative & thoughtful team player
• Ability to take positive initiative and work independently.
• Acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance.

Assets: 

• Experience managing e-commerce product inventory.
• Excellent time management & organizational skills 
• Retail or Restaurant experience.
• Food Handlers; WHIMIS; Smart Serve
• Standard First Aid and CPR-C 
• Self-starter, creative problem solver with good decision-making skills.
• Experience working with Seniors and or Volunteers

Terms of Employment:

 Full-Time – temporary position, June 3rd, 2024 – August 23rd,2024

• This position is with South Gate Centre, 191 Old Wellington St S Woodstock. 
• This position reports to: Maintenance Manager & Hospitality Managers.
