Assistant to Shipper/Receiver

We are seeking a high-energy employee with an excellent work ethic to assist our Shipper/Receiver to perform shipping, receiving, and related responsibilities between the hours of 9:00 and 5:00 from Monday to Friday. Overtime is sometimes required and weekend work may be expected on occasion.

Previous shipping & receiving experience and familiarity with a wide range of cheese products would be definite assets, as would food handler certification, and a valid driver's licence. Enjoyment of physical labour is essential. The physical demands of the job include the ability to work at a rapid pace; stand for long periods; work in a cooler much of the time at a temperature of 4 degrees C; lift, move and carry cheese and other products weighing up to 30kg, and wrap/stack skids, which requires upper arm and shoulder strength, and using proper bending & lifting techniques. Equipment operated includes pump trucks, and an elevator, and may include a computer & printer. In addition to assisting with shipping and receiving cheese and related products, picking orders, labelling cheese, packaging orders in boxes, cleaning, helping to look after garbage/recycling, and performing some maintenance work will be required.

English language, math, and interpersonal skills are essential. Also required are honesty & integrity, respect for sanitation & food safety standards, attention to detail, ability to meet the physical demands of the job, and willingness & ability to accurately follow instructions are also required. A hairnet/beard net and lab coat will be provided.

Employees must provide an extra pair of shoes with closed toes to be worn at the workplace only.
