Good Beginnings is a non-profit organization with a Board of Directors comprised of parents/guardians and community representatives who are committed to providing high quality early learning and child care programs to the children and families of Oxford County since 1986. It is our mission to be a leader in the provision of quality child care programs, which are affordable and accessible to families in Woodstock and the surrounding communities, delivered by professional and caring Educators.


This is a 12-month permanent position. September to June will be within our Before and After School Programs, as well as any Non-Instructional Day programs (PA Days, Winter & March Breaks). During July and August, the average hours per week will be 25-35 at our Summer Care program.
LOCATION: Before and After School Programs located within Woodstock & Tavistock
START DATE: October 2024
HOURS: Approximately 25 hours per week September to June / 25-35 hours per week during July & August
 

COMPENSATION:
RATE OF PAY Starting at $23.95*/hour ($25.95*/hour upon completion of probationary period)
(RECE): *Rate of pay includes the Provincial Wage Enhancement (and CWELCC Funding where applicable)
RATE OF PAY Starting at $21.95*/hour ($23.95*/hour upon completion of probationary period)
(NON-RECE): *Rate of pay includes the Provincial Wage Enhancement

We are seeking to fill these Before and After School Age positions with flexible, reliable, friendly, energetic, and engaged individuals. Prior to starting the position, the successful candidates will be required to comply with all applicable licensing requirements. This includes;
• Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Child & Youth Worker, Recreation and Leisure, Educational Support Worker, Elementary Education-Primary division, Educational Assistant, Social Service Worker or Developmental Service Worker
• A member in good standing of the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (if applicable)
• Standard First Aid, including Infant and Child CPR Certificate (Level C)
• Current Police Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, acceptable to Good Beginnings
• Up-to-date Immunization Records required by the Ministry of Education and Southwestern Public Health
• Safe Food Handling Certificate


POSITION SUMMARY
The successful candidate will provide child care for children (3.8 years to 12 years of age) in a group setting under the direction of Good Beginnings. They will follow the Program Statement, confidentiality, and the policies established by the Board of Directors, and regulations under the Child Care and Early Years Act. They will also ensure that they are integrating Good Beginnings’ Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging values into their environment.
The role of the successful candidates will be to fill in for employee absences, whether those absences are due to illness, vacation, or other breaks. When not required for coverage, they will provide support within a specific room based on the needs of the program. Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to be available during Good Beginnings’ hours of operation (6:30 am to 6:00 pm).


RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
• Ability to work various shifts; split shifts September to June, approximately 6:45-9:00am and 2:45-6:00pm
• Plan and implement activities based on the children’s needs and interests
• Excellent communication skills: written, oral, listening and non-verbal
• Works as a co-operative and respectful member of the team
• Adhere to all licensing requirements as set out by the Child Care and Early Years Act
• Adhere to all policies and procedures as established by the Board of Directors of Good Beginnings
• Familiarity with the following curriculum/resources would also be an asset:
o How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years
o Child Care and Early Years Act
