We work on a large variety of projects, ranging from custom-homes to mid-rise commercial projects. To meet the needs of our growing company, VDK Group Inc. is currently seeking to hire an experienced full-time Financial Controller to effectively manage and control the financial aspect of the business.
Job Summary:
This person will handle high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and oversee the financial activities of the company. Will report to the owners and will assist with the development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed. The controller is responsible for providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses as well as providing sound financial advice.
Responsibilities:
Managing accounting staff and review work to ensure accuracy.
Payroll Administration
Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly government remittances: WSIB, Payroll Sources Deductions, HST, EHT, T4, etc.
Bank reconciliations
Prepare financial reports
Oversee new projects and initiatives within the finance department.
Experience in the management of financial systems and budgets, financial reporting, financial data analysis, auditing, taxation, and providing sound financial advice.
Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management
Organize information and statements for yearend external accountants.
Proactively seeks out and resolves issues, researches, and makes recommendations on methods for improving processes.
Build upon and refine existing policies, procedures, and controls with a focus on improving efficiency, understandability, and accuracy.

Experience Required
Qualifications and requirements:
Accounting Designation CPA/CMA/CGA preferred
3+ years’ experience in accounting or finance
Strong math and proven analytical skills.
Proficiency in full cycle accounting
Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles.
Great written and verbal communication & organizational skills.
Experience in the manufacturing industry an asset.
Experience in the construction industry an asset.
Ability to work efficiently and accurately.
Driven to improve and streamline current processes.
Excellent computer skills; experience in ERP/Accounting software and highly proficient in Excel.
Ability to work independently, solve problems, and meet deadlines.
Self-motivation and strong work ethic.
