Position details:
- Full-time, permanent position
- Hybrid role based in Woodstock, ON
- Hours of work, Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance for a team of accounting professionals
- Monitor team activities to ensure that desired results are achieved according to deadlines, in accordance with ASPE, standard operating procedures, and policies
- Identify and analyze opportunities for improving quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of team deliveries, cost savings, vendor negotiations, and take action to put solutions in place to achieve optimal results
- Leads the coordination of the external audit, including preparation of financial statements
- Administrator for the various financial systems and processes used within the organization (Sage, Doclink, Dayforce, Credit Card Program, etc)
- Interact with Customers and Vendors in relation to escalations that require resolution
- Accurately deliver the monthly and annual financial reporting package with the support of your Accounting team
- Analyze financial data and financial statements for accuracy and ensuring that variances are explained to prior periods and versus budget
- Support Leadership team with reporting, and aligning costs with company goals
- Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
- Support regulatory reporting requests, including Statistics Canada, CRTC, and any other relevant reporting requirements
- Ensure internal controls are in place and working effectively to mitigate the risk of fraud and error
- Participate in management meetings and other activities.
- Communicate information appropriately from various meetings to your team
- Stay informed and up to date on key trends and information relating to this position along with anything specific to the Telecom industry
- Participate in webinars, seminars, courses, etc. to maintain your skills and develop new skills
- Any other duties as assigned
Education & Qualifications:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Business Admin or related field
- 7+ years of experience in full-cycle accounting
- 3 years of previous management experience
- CPA designation is an asset
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve complex problems
- Motivated by deadlines and multiple projects
- Experience using Sage300, DocLink and advanced proficiency in Excel an asset
- Organized with the ability to multi-task and work under the pressure of deadlines
- Team oriented
- Valid Class G License and access to reliable transportation
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Be confident, self- starter, proactive – skilled in taking initiative, assessing requirements, coming up with plans and taking the lead in making plans a reality
- Proven skills related to business process, requirements and SWOT analysis
- Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail and accuracy while maintaining the need to balance this with timeliness in reporting
- Well-developed time management skills and the ability to appropriately prioritize multiple projects and tasks
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to and work effectively with a wide range of people, both internal and external to the organization. Understanding the need to build positive, proactive working relationships
- High degree of self-motivation and independent decision-making skills
