Job Description

The Township of Norwich, with a population of 11,367 is one of five rural Townships within the County of Oxford. The Township is currently seeking a self-motivated, highly organized individual for the full-time position of Director of Community Services. This position is responsible to plan, direct and lead community services programs and all municipal facilities, including all municipal owned cemeteries. This position represents the municipality to other agencies and organizations to develop partnerships that nurture the municipality’s community programs, facilities and cemeteries.  The Director of Community Services will report directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

 

Required Education and Experience will include: 

 

  • University degree in Recreation & Leisure or Public Administration, or related field, with a minimum of five (5) years experience in recreation/administration and facility management or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Managing procurement, preparing and administering department operating/capital budgets, managing various projects, cemeteries, facilities, parks development and maintenance practices.
  • Preparing and presenting written reports for Council on diverse topics related to community services including but not limited to facilities, park, recreation and cemeteries.
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and public relations.
  • Working knowledge of various provincial legislations, i.e. Municipal Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSACT), etc.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.

A comprehensive benefit package and salary range (effective January 1, 2025, is $114,470 to $133,914) will be commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
