Job Description

YOUR ROLE IN OUR TEAM

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the QMT ensures the organization, proper functioning of quality department (including laboratory, certification, standards for collecting and reporting measurements)

Proposing new solutions to improve processes, conducting tests and managing projects

They ensure that the plant organization and the manufactured products meet the required specifications +

They participate in the optimization of the formulas for the existing product ranges and in the development and marketing of new products.

Participation in inter-company/international groups working to improve processes

THE CHALLENGES WE HAVE FOR YOU

  • Ensuring the quality of finished products;
  • Planning and performing laboratory tests according to defined frequencies and methods;
  • Implementing and managing the quality management system;
  • Accrediting, creating, transferring, and activating new raw materials and finished products in the Production management system;
  • Preparing and updating the specifications for all raw materials;
  • Monitoring qualitative databases and drafting monthly reports on quality rates;
  • Managing and monitoring nonconformities as well as corrective and preventive actions;
  • Managing the laboratory device calibration program;
  • Planning, participating in, and representing the plant in internal and external quality audits;
  • Defining quality standards and writing the quality manual (specifications, procedures, etc.);
  • Working in cooperation with Production to ensure knowledge and implementation of product quality;
  • Planning, organizing, and carrying out experimental plans for the improvement of finished product formulas;
  • Coordinating preventive and corrective actions to be taken in relation to nonconformities;
  • Solving quality issues and investigating customer feedback in partnership with the Production Coordinator;
  • Ensuring communication with the R&D and Technical departments.
  • Develop, monitor and conclude test plans aimed at improvement or innovation. Integrate feedback from other Group sites.
  • Participate in the process of continuous improvement and standardization of practices.
  • Maintain fluid, two-way communication with European counterparts on aspects of process development and technology watch.
  • Testing new recipes to improve processes and reduce costs

Education

Post Secondary Degree

Experience Required

THE SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Your Education

  • Chemical education (especially in the field of plastics processing)

  • Or related education and at least 5 years of experience in the chemical industry

  • Training in the field of Quality Management

Your Knowledge and Competencies

  • Knowledge of quality system management;

  • Experience in setting up an ISO 9001 environment or work in this type of environment (an asset);

  • Ideally, the candidate will have a sound knowledge of plastics processing, plastic extrusion or even foam extrusion.

  • Identify medium and long-term improvement potential in all areas, coordinate projects and ensure return on investment;

Your Skills and Abilities

  • Bilingualism (French an asset);

  • Communication skills;

  • Analytical mind, systemic thinking, and a sense of organization;

  • Thoroughness and reliability;

  • Ability to set up simple monitoring tools shared by everyone;

  • Rallying spirit (involving other departments in their quality mission);

  • Ability to work in a continuous improvement mode.

  • A team of one (1) or more laboratory technicians
