Job Description

The Program Supervisor is accountable and assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the school age programs

in accordance with the Ministry of Education regulations and policies set out by OCCC. The supervisor is

responsible for overseeing program planning, working effectively with staff, working with families and

children, connecting with the community, mentoring staff and administrative responsibilities related to the

day-to-day operation of the school age programs.

 

The Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership in keeping with the philosophy and values of OCCC while

following the guidelines, policies and the Program Statement. They act as a role model, providing a supportive

environment with ongoing mentoring and guidance. Regular and ongoing communication is key. This position

reports to the Program Manager

Experience Required

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures related to operations of a child care program,

child guidance techniques, child development, methods of observation, reflection and adult learning.

• Demonstrates ability to calmly handle emergencies, crises, and hostile behaviour.

• Able to use professional judgment on a daily basis within guidelines established OCCC.

• Able to effectively problem solve and suggest solutions, provide guidance to adults.

• Able to maintain organized and accurate records and to prepare and present reports.

• Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

• Able to carry/lift/move moderately heavy items, up to 40 lbs.

• Work in conditions involving exposure to: bodily fluids, infectious diseases, frequent high noise levels, and

inclement weather.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• ECE diploma and current registration in good standing with the College of ECE, Ontario

• Post diplomas and additional related education is preferred.

• A minimum of two years of postgraduate experience in the field of child care.

• Current Standard First Aid and CPR-Level C Certificates.

• Current Food Handlers’ Certificate is preferred

• Clear Vulnerable Persons Screening / Criminal Reference Check

• Valid driver’s license, appropriate personal insurance, reliable vehicle

Wage Details

$30 - $0 per hour
