Job Description
The General Contracting division is seeking to add an experienced Architectural Designer to their team. Reporting to the Preconstruction Manager, the Architectural Designer will be responsible for designing and overseeing the design of various architectural projects, ensuring that they meet both aesthetic and functional requirements. They will also collaborate with clients, engineers, and construction teams to develop innovative design solutions and manage projects from conception to completion.
Job Type: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract Length: 14 months
Responsibilities
- Develop architectural designs and plans for ICI multi-residential and manufacturing for new construction projects, renovations, and additions (e.g. site plans/floor plans, exterior elevations for clients from concept to construction)
- Work on multiple projects in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team environment
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and budget constraints
- Create detailed drawings, renderings, and models using computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Review and revise designs based on feedback from clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies
- Prepare and present design proposals, and timelines, to clients and project stakeholders
- Zoning bylaws and municipality submissions such as Site Plan approvals / minor variance/building permits etc.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to incorporate into design projects
Education
Experience Required
- Minimum 2-5 years experience as an Architectural Designer or similar role
- Minimum 2 years construction experience, specifically in general contracting
- Post-secondary education in Architecture or related program an asset
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Lumion, or similar Render software.
- Must have a valid G license to travel to project sites
- Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and construction techniques.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Attention to detail and a keen eye for design aesthetics.
- Must have stellar communication skills, the ability to problem solve, and capability to adapt to all situations
