Position Summary

The Forge Engineering Technician Lead is responsible for the leadership and technical oversight of forging operations across two shifts. In addition to supporting daily production and equipment troubleshooting, this role provides frontline supervision to unionized and salaried staff, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, and production goals. 

The Lead Technician will drive continuous improvement in forging processes, coordinate maintenance planning, and act as a key liaison between production, maintenance, and external vendors. This role is critical in executing the production plan, resolving issues in real-time, and leading a high-performing team within a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Experience Required

Education & Experience

Education:

  • Technical training in a related field preferred (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent).
  • Equivalent hands-on forging experience may be considered.

Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in forging or press operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in equipment troubleshooting and process optimization.
  • Proven experience providing team leadership or frontline supervision.
  • Experience working within a unionized manufacturing environment considered an asset

Technical Experience:

  • Strong understanding of forging and press equipment operation.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Familiarity with production planning, shift coordination, and schedule execution.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, root-cause analysis).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and technical reporting tools.

Knowledge

  • Forging and pressing processes and equipment
  • Mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system principles
  • Preventive maintenance best practices
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act and workplace safety regulations
  • Production planning and shift coordination in a unionized environment
  • Continuous improvement methodologies

  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills

  • Leadership and team development skills

  • Ability to motivate and direct team members effectively

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range:$71,800.00 To $95,000.00 Annually
