Our Social Enterprise is committed to providing meaningful, paid work for individuals with disabilities, creating an inclusive and empowering workplace. Supported by dedicated job coaches and developmental support workers, our staff thrive in a variety of industries. We currently offer services in lawn maintenance, snow removal, piecework, and parts supply for local industries, and operate a custom pallet shop. As we aim to expand our offerings and create more employment opportunities, we are looking for a highly skilled Coordinator to lead our initiatives.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of our social enterprise, focusing on acquiring new business contracts and fostering a supportive environment for our team of individuals with disabilities. The ideal candidate should possess strong business acumen, experience in industrial settings, and a passion for creating inclusive work environments. Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to cultivate partnerships are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Sales:
- Identify and secure new contracts to broaden and sustain our services (lawn maintenance, snow removal, piece work, parts supply, and custom pallet production).
- Develop strong relationships with local industries, businesses, and community partners to ensure ongoing contracts.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with clients to ensure profitable opportunities.
- Collaborate with the executive team to devise strategies for expanding and diversifying our services.
Team Coordination & Supervision:
- Oversee and support a team of staff with disabilities, ensuring they are equipped to perform their duties effectively.
- Supervise developmental support workers and job coaches to facilitate training, mentorship, and skills development opportunities.
- Assign tasks based on individual abilities and strengths, promoting independence and job satisfaction.
- Monitor team performance, providing constructive feedback and supporting continuous improvement.
Operations Management:
- Ensure efficient operations that meet client expectations, maintaining high quality across all services.
- Coordinate work schedules, manage workflow, and allocate resources for timely task completion.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols within the workplace, training staff on necessary procedures.
- Manage inventory, supplies, and equipment to ensure readiness for projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Financial Management:
- Monitor budgets and financial performance of contracts, maintaining fiscal responsibility while providing minimum wage paid work.
- Track and report on financial performance to assess business sustainability and profitability.
Advocacy & Community Engagement:
- Represent the social enterprise at industry events, networking meetings, and community forums to enhance visibility.
- Advocate for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the workforce and promote diverse hiring practices.
Education
Experience Required
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in business operations, ideally in an industrial or factory setting.
- Experience supervising and coordinating teams, with a focus on supporting individuals with disabilities or diverse needs.
- Strong skills in sales and contract negotiation to secure business partnerships effectively.
- Knowledge of operational management, including resource allocation and scheduling.
- Familiarity with workplace health and safety standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- A passion for social enterprise and the promotion of inclusive work environments.
- Strong organizational abilities with the capability to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Experience in the non-profit sector or with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with occasional weekend or evening commitments as required.
- Work is conducted primarily in industrial, outdoor, and office environments.
- Physical tasks may include lifting and carrying materials, alongside ensuring staff adherence to safety protocols.
