Job Description

LOCATION: Parkside Child Care Centre/St. Jude’s Catholic School
30 Caffyn Street, Ingersoll, ON
START DATE: October 2023
HOURS: 35 hours per week
RATE OF PAY: $24.77 – $27.68/per hour
(To be determined based on experience and qualifications)

POSITION SUMMARY
The successful candidate will have a dual role of part time Educator within the learning environment, as well as part time Assistant Supervisor provide leadership and supervision in both the Child Care Centre and the School Age Program. They will actively promote the Program Statement as well as the mission, vision and philosophy of Good Beginnings Day Nursery Woodstock Inc. through observation and implementation of the policies established by the Good Beginnings’ Board of Directors, and the regulations under the Child Care and Early Years Act.
Additionally, they will be responsible for implementing team building and providing mentorship to the Educators in the early learning environment.
Due to the unique nature of this role, the successful candidate will provide mentorship, support and coverage in the programs as needed. They will need to maintain flexibility, and an open availability in between the hours of 6:30AM and 6:00PM to accommodate needs within both the Child Care and School Age programs. At time, split shifts may be required.

Mentoring and Communication
• Build strong and meaningful relationships with each child and family in order to sustain communication, and properly address any feedback, concerns, or updates
• Build and maintain relationships with Good Beginnings’ employees, as well as school personnel including principals, custodians, etc.
• Support and mentor new employees through their orientation, and ensure all documentation required is kept secure
• Routinely observe the programs and mentor employees through school site visits
• Plan and observe the curriculum to ensure it is implemented, maximized, and effective within each of your programs
• Mentoring and supporting Child Care and School Age staff on a daily basis

Administration
In partnership with the Supervisor, the Assistant Supervisor will assist with and provide back up coverage to:
• Review staffing and scheduling needs, and arrange for Supply Educator coverage
• Manage and facilitate the registration process including monitoring the Onelist and orientation with families
• Acquire and monitor documentation of all children, and families
• Complete billing and submit subsidies as needed
• Ensure proper preparation and planning for annual licensing reviews, as needed

The successful candidate will be required to adhere to all licensing requirements as set out by the Child Care and Early Years Act. Excellent communication skills: written, oral, listening, and non-verbal are essential.
Familiarity with the following curriculum/resources would also be an asset, as Good Beginnings follows both;
• How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years
• Child Care and Early Years Act

Post Secondary Degree

Experience Required

We are seeking to fill this position with a compassionate, reliable, friendly, energetic and engaged professional. The successful candidate will be required to possess the following qualifications:
• Degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education (and/or hold a diploma that is otherwise approved as per the Ministry of Education)
• Current Member in good standing with College of Early Childhood Educators
• Experience working in a supervisory & administrative Child Care/School Age role
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office would be considered a strong asset
• Strong task management and leadership skills
• Experience in mentorship and team building
