Job Description

Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital is actively seeking applicants for a Dialysis Unit Assistant (DUA) position. The Dialysis Unit Assistant (DUA) plays a key role in the Satellite Dialysis Centre by supporting the Interdisciplinary Team so they can use their time more effectively to provide direct patient care. The DUA is an integral participant of the Satellite Centre under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) trained in hemodialysis. The DUA understands their role in ensuring patient safety. They will report to the RN assigned to desk duties.

Qualifications Required

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent that is acceptable to the Hospital.
  • Dialysis Technician Assistant Certificate or equivalent certificate that is acceptable to the Hospital is required
  • Minimum of 2 year recent Dialysis Unit Assistant experience preferred

  • Current Basic Life Support certification required
  • Basic Medical terminology preferred.
  • Knowledge and proficient computer skills inclusive of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated aptitude for working with programmable equipment
  • Experience with supply ordering and management considered an asset
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and universal precautions for infection control
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently in a busy environment
  • Demonstrated good judgment in identifying and referring problems requiring team intervention
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Positive working relationship with team to contribute to a positive work life
  • Is cognizant of emotion and experience of others while communication with patient families and team members
  • Demonstrated initiative and self-direction with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team
  • Demonstrated commitment to own professional development and continuing education.
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis and be available to work all shifts.
  • Collaborates with other team members.
  • Is knowledgeable of the roles of other team members and recognizes their contributions.

Other pertinent conditions:

  • Must be available to work all shifts as required including days, evenings, overnights, weekends and statutory holidays. Hours of work are subject to change.

Wage Details

$28.23 - $28.86 per hour
