ABOUT GOOD BEGINNINGS:
Good Beginnings is a non-profit organization overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors comprised primarily of parents/guardians and community representatives. Since 1986, our organization has been committed to providing early learning and child care programs to the children and families of Oxford County. It is our mission to be a leader in the provision of quality child care programs, which are affordable and accessible to families in Woodstock and the surrounding communities, delivered by professional and caring Educators.


Good Beginnings is focused on nurturing child development, while supporting families and providing a safe and supportive environment for children to grow, learn and thrive. We provide care for children at 4 Child Care Centres within Oxford County, and at 13 Schools for our Before and After School programs. Additionally, we provide full day programs during PA Days, Winter Break, March Break, and Summer Care.


Good Beginnings’ oversees Chıldınü Oxford, which is the Special Needs Resourcing Service for Oxford County. Chıldınü Oxford provides services to build inclusion within licensed child care settings throughout the County.

DESCRIPTION
We are seeking to fill this position with a passionate and experienced professional.


All aspects of the Executive Director position will be performed while working within the framework of the Vision, Mission, and Program Statements, Good Beginnings’ policies and procedures, the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, How Does Learning Happen?, the Ministry of Labour and Human Rights Acts, and according to the strategic direction set by the Board of Directors.


The Executive Director has accountabilities in the areas of Governance, Leadership and Administration, Finance, Risk Management, Program and Operations Management, Community Relations, Human Resources, Coaching and Mentoring, Teamwork and Communication, Health and Safety, Information Technology, and Professional Learning.


POSITION SUMMARY
The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and overall management of Good Beginnings by actively living, and promoting the guiding principles in its Mission, Vision, and Program Statements.
The Executive Director will:
● Supervise and work closely with all direct reports in their roles, to coach and mentor to create and maintain a positive workplace culture
● Support all staff by developing an awareness of their roles and responsibilities in creating and supporting a positive workplace culture
● Lead a team which promotes a quality play-based early learning curriculum founded in research, excellent Child Care and School Age Programs, and supports for children with special needs
● Under the direction of the Board of Directors, provide sound administration, management and financial sustainability to the organization consistent with regulations established by the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
● Ensures Good Beginnings’ Mission, Vision, and Program Statements are fully integrated into daily operations and decision-making, including the review and implementation of operational, employee, and legislative policies and procedures
● Conducts meetings with the Board of Directors, including aiding in the facilitation of strategic planning
● Acts as a liaison between the Board of Directors and employees - fostering effective teamwork
● Directly supervises the administration of finances of the organization within the approved budget
● Works directly with the Ministry of Education to ensure appropriate licensing requirements and on-going compliance
● Establishes good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with families, child care colleagues, community groups, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization
● Ensures the integration of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles within the organization
● Day to day processes, procedures, and responsibilities include but are not limited to; ability to work independently and a willingness to work flexible hours and to visit our various locations, interpersonal communication and the ability to navigate positive solutions, demonstrate the ability to prioritize competing and urgent demands, promote individual success and team collaboration

Education

Post Secondary Degree

Experience Required

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will be required to possess the following qualifications:
● Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated proficiency as a Child Care Executive Director or Supervisor
● Diploma in Early Childhood Education (and/or hold a diploma that is otherwise approved as per the Ministry of Education)
● Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
● Human Resources and Finance experience
● Experience working in the non-profit sector would be considered an asset
● Thorough knowledge of licensing requirements as set out by the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014
● Commitment to the highest ethical standards and dedication to the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Program Statements
● Proven adherence to Ministry of Education requirements and the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014
● Prior to start date; Satisfactory completion of a Police Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Standard First Aid with CPR Level C


DEMONSTRATED COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
● Professional communication skills (written, oral, listening, and non-verbal)
● Proven proficiency and strong working experience in all aspects of Microsoft Office
● Exceptional task management
● Strong leadership skills; consistency, conflict management, decision making, change management, inclusiveness
