Group Living/ Supported Independent Living
Where:
Woodstock and District Developmental Services
Location:
Woodstock, Ontario
Type: Long term, flexible
Schedule is mutually determined
Responsibilities:
- Connect with people with developmental disabilities based on their interests and goals
- Support with leisure activities i.e. sports, gardening, playing cards/games, music, seeing a movie, cooking and crafts
- Offer new connections and activities that might provide opportunities to learn new and different skills
- Support and advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion in your community
Requirements:
- Mature, reliable and committed
- Energetic and motivated
- Works well with others and in teams
- Enjoys supporting people and building relationships
- Well connected or willing to connect to community
- Believes in the vision of ‘a Community Where Everybody Belongs’
**Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector and references are required**
- If you would like to support someone in your car, valid G or G2 driver’s license with $1 million liability proof of insurance is required

Training:
- One-on-one meeting with Volunteer/Student Coordinator
- Orientation provided to all volunteers on agency policies and procedures
- Online training provided (Health and safety, diversity and inclusion, confidentiality, abuse, rights, emergency procedures)
- Meet and greet and time to get to know the person(s) you will be volunteering with
- More training available if requested
