Volunteer Job Description

This volunteer position is for Operation Sharing’s Extended Family Project program. Basically, teams of two-three volunteers are asked to give about three hours a week of their time to link with individuals or families in poverty in a ‘walk the walk’ approach. The help for these people could come in a variety of ways. For example, if a person in poverty wants to get back into the workforce and hasn’t written a resume for some time, we could help with that (or link the person up with another agency that already provides help in that way). Other examples include accompanying a person to a doctor’s appointment if they feel hesitant about going, or linking up a child in poverty with sports or arts opportunities (if the child’s family doesn’t have the money for such activities, we could advocate for them to get into such activities for no or reduced cost).
