Volunteer Job Description

Volunteer Classroom Facilitator:

The purpose of this position is to facilitate the delivery of a hands on activity in classrooms of elementary schools to ensure that the Mission of STEM Camp is being delivered through quality programming. The presentation is to inspire, empower and initiate curiosity and wonder in the areas of STEM initiating questions and entertaining dialogue. The Volunteer Classroom Facilitator is responsible for the delivering of a hands on activity at their assigned classroom location. Each Volunteer Classroom Facilitator reports directly to the Program Coordinator and Management Team at head office which includes the CEO, Executive Director and Community Relations Director. All preapproved expenses incurred while travelling are to be reported to the Program Coordinator. These expenses can include pre-approved supplies for classroom activities.

The responsibilities of a Volunteer Classroom Facilitator include but are not limited to:

  • Attending the mandatory training day for all Volunteer Classroom Facilitators, Completing Health and Safety Training
  • Ensuring that communication with educational facility contacts reflects a high level of professionalism and integrity within the guidelines of the Privacy Policy
  • Carrying out duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator or any member of the management team which includes, CEO, Executive Director and Community Relations Director
  • Completion of incident reports and other administrative duties
  • Collection of Activity Survey at the end of every classroom session to be filled out by classroom teacher/supervisor
  • Modelling appropriate behaviour and creating positive interactions as a representative of STEM Camp in all aspects of program delivery
  • Adhering to all STEM Camp policies including “Policy for the Protection of Children”
  • Adhering to the Classroom Program Activity Schedule and Training Manual
  • Any issues regarding performance, policy or procedure compliance shall be directed to any member of the management team including the CEO, Executive Director, Community Relations Director or Program Coordinator at Head Office.

The successful applicant will demonstrate a dynamic and interesting personality and possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills with experience in a classroom environment. This person would be expected to travel short distances in their perspective region

Experience Required

 Secondary School Diploma

 Must be an Adult
