Join Our Team: Part-Time Bookkeeper Needed for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oxford County (BBBS) is seeking a dedicated part-time bookkeeper to join our engaging team. This opportunity offers flexible hours (8-12 hours per week) and the chance to support a charitable organization making a real impact in our community. As a Bookkeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and performing various accounting tasks. The ideal candidate has experience with accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and is proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks.

A day in the life of a Bookkeeper with BBBS could include:

  • Payroll: Prepare biweekly payroll with remittance to the agency’s automatic payroll provider and handling other payroll requests as needed. Maintain employee records
  • Accounts Payable: Process accounts payable promptly, and work with the Executive Director to ensure dollars are attributed to proper line items. Process invoices, payments, and expense reports.
  • Reconciliation and Reporting: Complete monthly bank reconciliations with attention to detail, ensuring accountability. Produce accurate monthly financial statements/reports for our esteemed Board of Directors, showcasing our fiscal health and strategic insights.
  • Record-Keeping: Maintain meticulous accounting files in adherence to BBBS financial policies, ensuring our financial records are impeccable. Perform account analysis and reconciliation
  • Internal Controls: Ensure robust internal controls to safeguard our agency’s assets, promptly addressing any weaknesses to the Executive Director.
  • Charitable Donation/Sponsorship Processing: Assist the fund development manager as needed to issue charitable receipts promptly upon request, acknowledging and appreciating the generosity of our donors.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Compliance: Navigate gaming licenses and reports for Raffle activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Audit: Assist with the annual audit process, ensuring timely completion
  • Systems Management: Provide, when necessary, direction and advice on payroll, accounting, and computer systems, implementing directives approved by the Board of Directors and Executive Director.

Other Responsibilities:

Education and Experience:

  • Experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and other relevant computer applications
  • Knowledge and experience in bookkeeping practices
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and other relevant computer applications
  • Aptitude for data management and financial analysis
