Job Description

As a Literacy and Basic Skills Instructor/Caseworker at the MSC you will be responsible for:

· Adult literacy instruction and basic computer and mobile device skills upgrading to students in a classroom environment

· Intake and assessment of Adult Literacy & Essential Skills students.

· Monitor and support students’ progress and complete associated documentation.

· Develop training/lesson plans and administer learning activities.

· Address volunteer tutor and student inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

· Monitor and achieve monthly Ministry targets associated with Core Measures and implement relevant strategies to ensure target success.

· Assist with recruitment and training of potential volunteer tutors.

· Monitor and support volunteer tutors and tutor/student matches.

· Data entry of client information and maintenance of client files in a Case Management system

· Develop resources and participate in promotional events for public awareness of the Adult Literacy & Basic Skills program.

· Perform clerical tasks, statistical reporting, case notes and data entry duties associated with the literacy program.

· Provide a positive and professional image optimizing service delivery satisfaction, referring inquiries to the appropriate individual, department, service, or organization, as per the established procedure.

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

What you bring:

· Relevant formal education/training or experience in the field of literacy or education with youth/adults

· Knowledge of Adult Learning Principles

· Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and team-building skills.

· Self-directed and highly capable of working unsupervised.

· Excellent Computer and Mobile Device skills

· Adherence to confidentiality and professional code of conduct

· Passion for continuous professional development
