Job Description
South Gate Centre in Woodstock is seeking a summer student to fulfill the position of Recreation Programmer.
This opportunity is a full-time, temporary position from July 2nd, 2025 – August 29th, 2025
Hours – Day, some evenings and weekend shifts at 35 hours per week.
- This position is with South Gate Centre, 191 Old Wellington St S Woodstock.
- This position reports to: Office Manager & Program Coordinator Manager.
Responsibilities & Skills Required:
- Assist with all aspects of the Volunteer Program including recruiting orientating and deployment of volunteers.
- Help in development, implement and support programming for the members run by volunteers, by liaising with program leads, creating programming calendars and setting up the programs on our online registration system.
- Assist with coordinating details and take the lead on organizing and executing Member/Volunteer events while working with the necessary management staff to organize staff and volunteer schedules to assist in these events (Volunteer Appreciation, Seniors Month, card tournaments, themed events).
- Assists with office operations and special projects as required.
- Maintain polite and professional communication via in-person, phone and email conversations.
- Assist in designing social media content, posters, tickets, announcements and advertising and maintains and updates the SGC online website.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Education
Experience Required
Qualifications:
- Computer Skills: Excellent analytical skills, very strong understanding of computers, working knowledge of Microsoft office suite; competency in data collection, project creation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in cash handling - involving accounting procedures, reconciliation, counting and managing receipts.
- Quality customer support and multitasking skills.
- Creative & thoughtful team player.
- Ability to take positive initiative and work independently.
- Acceptable Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance.
Assets:
- Experience managing e-commerce product inventory.
- Excellent time management & organizational skills.
- Retail or office experience.
- Standard First Aid and CPR-C.
- Self-starter, creative problem solver with good decision-making skills.
- experience working with Seniors and or Volunteers.
