Job Description

The Mold Flow Specialist is responsible for performing mold flow simulations and analysis using mold flow simulation software. Defining fill, pack and warp and translating into processing parameters for tooling and processing team members. This individual will provide process support for new tool tryouts and establish correlations with Moldflow simulations.

  • Working with Tooling Engineers, lead Moldflow simulation activity for new part development
  • Analyze Moldflow results and recommend part design, gating and process changes to improve part quality and process window
  • Perform new tool qualification using a scientific molding approach.
  • Compare results of molding trials to simulations and revise analysis assumptions to correlate results
  • Develops and documents process and set-up procedures
  • Provide support to plant requests for trouble shooting Part defects or processing issues.
  • Completes MoldFlow related customer documentation when required.
  • Support implementation of Scientific/ Decoupled Molding processes.
  • Project management including DOE's and process capability studies.
    • Performs job in a safe manner and strives to meet or exceed company safety goals

 


 

Education

Post Secondary Degree

Experience Required

Qualifications

Education

  • Successful completion of a minimum 2-4 year post-secondary program; design, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering are considered relevant

  • Related Mold Flow Courses IE; MoldFlow 101, Moldflow Insight to Fundamentals, Advance Flow + Cool and Warp

  • Successful completion of a mold design/mold maker apprenticeship an asset

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in injection mold design/mold tooling

  • MoldFlow Software; Autodesk, Moldex3D

  • Injection processing: Setting up and Running Injection Moulds

  • Cad software: Cimatron, NX

  • Automotive experience is considered to be an asset

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to show versatility and resourcefulness when problem solving

  • Attention to detail and accuracy when preparing and reviewing mold designs

  • Ability to adapt to changing demands from customers as well as fellow team members

  • Strong interpersonal skills; having to communicate with several people at once

  • Ability to organize priorities based on deadlines and importance of tasks

  • Manage time efficiently while working on several different tasks at once

  • Sense of creativity when designing a mold, and when having to change and adapt to different specifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license
