Job Description
Who we are: Barney Bookkeeping provides virtual accounting services that allow our staff to work remotely. We assist our clients wherever they run their businesses. We communicate using chat, email, phone calls, and virtual meetings.

Responsibilities and Duties
• Responsible for general bookkeeping, tax remittances, maintaining general ledgers and financial statements
• Making entries into accounting software and utilizing integrated online applications as needed
• Pay invoices in accordance with client requirements using online software
• Reconcile financial statements and AR and AP accounts
• Implement and closely monitor internal control policies, procedures, and processes
• Review intercompany transactions and reconcile the accounts
• Manage tax filing processes to ensure compliance with corporate tax, HST, EHT, and other government reconciliations and remittances
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and financial reports including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reporting
• Integrity, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential information

• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines
Education
Experience Required
About the Role
The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing full-cycle accounting, payroll, and sales tax remittance. This is a fast-paced environment and we work with live software. Although this position will mostly be remote some in-office time may be required it is essential that you are able to come to the office. Experience in Xero or Quickbooks Online is an asset.
Education and Job Experience
• Certificate in accounting or business administration. Excellent knowledge of general accounting principles
• Strong financial understanding and background in accounting, bookkeeping, and related financial administration required
• At least 5 years of bookkeeping experience
