Job Description

We’re looking for passionate, knowledgeable, and nurturing individuals to join our team of educators at The Learning Hive. If you love working with children, believe in meeting each learner where they are, and have a strong understanding of structured literacy and/or evidence-based math instruction, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

As an evening educator with The Learning Hive, you’ll work with students in a 1:1 setting to provide customized support in reading, writing, math and/or English Language Learners  Our programs are designed to build confidence, deepen understanding, and foster a lifelong love of learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Support: Deliver engaging, explicit, and systematic lessons tailored to each child’s unique needs and learning profile.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track student growth, take clear lesson notes, and adjust instruction as needed to ensure ongoing progress.
  • Relationship Building: Create a warm, welcoming environment where students feel safe, supported, and celebrated.
  • Communication: Maintain open, respectful communication with parents and our leadership team. Share updates on student progress and collaborate to support next steps.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with our team to uphold The Learning Hive’s standards, values, and vision for quality education.

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

What We’re Looking For

  • Background in education, child development, or a related field (ECE, OCT, or Orton-Gillingham training is an asset but not required)
  • Strong knowledge of structured literacy, ELL and/or evidence-based math instruction (or willingness to learn)
  • Experience working with children from preschool to grade 8, or higher
  • Excellent communication skills and a growth mindset
  • Dependability, professionalism, and warmth
  • Vulnerable Sector Clearance

Schedule & Location

  • Part-time hours available during weekdays (mainly after-school sessions)
  • Most sessions take place at our education centre in Woodstock or local partner schools
