Public Works Equipment Operator
The Township of South-West Oxford, with a population of 7,730, is one of five rural Townships within the County of Oxford. We are currently seeking a full-time Public Works Equipment Operator. Strategically located along the Highway 401 corridor in the southwest corner of Oxford County, we offer a well-connected transportation network of Provincial, County, and Municipal roadways, supporting a thriving environment for residents and businesses alike.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Foreman, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating vehicles and equipment – including road graders, dump trailers, tandem trucks, sanders, front end loaders, backhoes, tractors, and power tools – to support road maintenance, construction, winter servicing, and the upkeep of ditches and parks. Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12 or equivalent).
- At least two (2) years experience working with heavy machinery such as road graders, loaders, backhoes.
- Minimum two (2) year CVOR, tandem or tri-axle truck driving experience.
- Must possess a valid class “AZ” license (or valid “DZ” and obtain “AZ” within 1 year).
- Knowledge of road construction techniques.
- Equipment maintenance experience.
- Good communication skills.
- Safe and efficient operations of trucks and equipment in all weather conditions.
Salary and Benefits (Grade 3 on 2025 Township Grid) The Township offers 40 hours per week with a salary range of $27.59 to $34.49 per hour plus a comprehensive health benefits package and the OMERS Pension Plan.
