We are seeking for a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to support daily operations at our vaccine egg incubation center. In this role, you’ll help keep all essential systems and equipment running smoothly from automated candling machines and robotic egg handlers to transport carts and key facility utilities. The ideal candidate brings solid hands-on technical experience, takes initiative with preventive maintenance, and values of safety, efficiency, and cost-effective decision-making. 

This position directly supports the reliability and environmental stability required for vaccine-grade clean egg incubation.

Key Responsibilities 

Maintenance Operations 

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance inspections (PM) to ensure continuous and efficient equipment performance. 
  • Diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment components as needed. 
  • Execute the installation and setup of new equipment, fixtures, and utilities. 
  • Conduct service calls for emergency breakdowns and implement corrective actions promptly. 
  • Inspect and verify the quality of internal and third-party repairs or rebuilds. 
  • Plan and achieve maintenance goals and objectives, aligning with operational priorities and cost control. 

 

Building and Facility Systems 

  • Maintain and repair all building-related infrastructure, including: 

o HVAC and air filtration systems

o Pressure controls, humidity systems, and sensors 

o Electrical panels, lighting, and backup generators 

o Water supply, drainage, and plumbing 

o Access doors, gates, and security systems 

o Cleanroom fixtures (washable panels, filters, pass-throughs) 

o Emergency systems (alarms, extinguishers, safety showers) 

o Floor drains, insulation, and wall integrity checks 

o Compressor system o Lift gates and loading docks 

o Snow melt system 

o Chillers 

Automation and Equipment Support 

  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair automated candling machines and robotic egg handling systems. 
  • Support troubleshooting, basic programming, and fault correction in collaboration with automation engineers. Documentation and Recordkeeping 
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive maintenance documentation, including: 

o Equipment and supplier lists 

o Operating and maintenance manuals

o Purchase orders and drawings 

o Preventive and corrective maintenance checklists

o Spare parts lists and maintenance history

  • Accurately log all maintenance activities, parts used, and time spent and develop the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). 

Safety and Compliance

  • Perform all duties in accordance with OSHA, and company safety standards. 
  • Wear all mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with biosecurity 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace. 
  • Follow lockout/tagout, confined space, and equipment isolation procedures.

Follow biosecurity zoning, disinfection, and gowning procedures to prevent cross-contamination between incubation and cold storage areas.

 Coordination and Improvement

  • Work closely with production, QA, and supplier teams to plan maintenance with minimal disruption. 
  • Supervise and guide contractors or vendors, ensuring compliance with site policies. 
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement in equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and cost control.

Education

Post Secondary Degree

Experience Required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in biotech, pharmaceutical, or food production environments. 
  • Experience with egg incubation or poultry equipment is a plus 
  • Intermediate to advanced computer knowledge 
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. 
  • Basic programming or interfacing with robotic systems is a plus 
  • Familiarity with automation, PLCs, or control systems. 
  • Proficiency with CMMS tools (e.g., Fiix, Maximo, SAP PM, or Limble). 
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills. 

Knowledge of incubation temperature mapping, calibration, and environmental control validation is an asset.
