About this Opportunity:

 

We are seeking a hands-on Installation & Repair Supervisor to lead our Locating team, specializing in precise identification and mapping of underground fibre optic and telecom infrastructure. In this pivotal role, you will oversee daily operations, inspire and develop your team, uphold quality assurance standards, and champion safety compliance. As the Installation & Repair Supervisor, you will take full ownership of people management, safety protocols, compliance, and performance within the locating function. You will have the authority to set standards, strategize workload distribution, manage vendor partnerships, maximize the use of technology and drive seamless collaboration across departments to ensure the continued success and reliability of our network.

Position Details:

  • Leadership On-Site role – required to be on site or in office majority of the time
  • Permanent, Full Time
  • Hours of work:
    • Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required to participate in leadership, business development and supervisory activities

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and participate in the day-to-day functioning/activities of the Locating team while helping to build a progressive brand in our independent telephone, FTTH, and CLEC communities
  • Be a natural leader and empower others to succeed in their job while creating an environment where people feel valued, can grow, and function well as a team
  • Travel to locations to conduct Quality Assurance evaluations ensuring safety and process compliance. Ensure the maintenance of accurate records and reports of completed locates, including detailed sketches, photos, and GIS-based mapping systems
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with external vendors and contractors including Ontario One Call, ensuring effective and clear communication to support operational goals
  • Maximize the use of technology by working with external vendors to ensure software is functioning as intended and recommendations for improvement are requested and implemented where possible  
  • Develop and implement strategic plans that align with Company objectives and drive team performance
  • Deliver training and provide ongoing support to the team on effective use of locating software including Utilocate and Pointman
  • Identify opportunities to integrate AI tools into daily workflows to enhance productivity and streamline processes
  • Complete damage investigations and report findings as required
  • Assist customers, stakeholders, contractors, and team members in resolving any issues as identified
  • Liaising with other Supervisors internally to support day to day inquiries and work management
  • Be confident, a self-starter, and proactive – skilled in taking initiative, assessing requirements, coming up with plans and taking the lead in making plans a reality
  • Comply with Health & Safety regulations and abide by Execulink’s Vision, Mission, and Value statements
  • Develop agenda and facilitate regular team meetings, which will ensure that all departmental and organizational information is disseminated in a positive and focused manner
  • Create an internal training program, which will ensure consistency in team members’ skills and implementation procedures
  • Oversee timesheet submission and authorize vacation and leave requests, via Dayforce
  • Operate Company-provided vehicles safely and in compliance with all local, provincial, and federal traffic laws, adhering to company driving policies and defensive driving techniques
  • Assist the Installation & Repair Manager in preparing an annual departmental operating and capex budget by identifying tactical and strategic financial needs

 

HR Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, retain team members
  • Coach individual team members to achieve Target KPI metrics and an awesome customer experience
  • Work closely with the Installation & Repair Manager to set and achieve appropriate KPI metrics
  • Conduct individual 1:1 coaching sessions aligned with established plans
  • Demonstrate effective leadership by empowering performance, developing and participating in building a team atmosphere through positive interactions
  • Develop and deliver regular Team Meetings
  • Write and deliver Quarterly Performance Reviews (QPR’s) and Employee Performance Improvement Plans (EPIP’s)
  • Approve payroll timesheets, vacation and time-off requests

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a supervisor in the locating industry
  • Experience with copper and fibre infrastructure is preferred
  • Experience with Utilocate and Pointman is an asset
  • Excellent leadership skills with proven coaching and mentoring capabilities
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite as well as mapping software
  • Demonstrated experience in project management

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • A proven ability to work under pressure, deal with multiple deadlines and effectively handle stressful situations
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with a broad spectrum of our community
  • Must have a strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Skilled in performing locates and investigation including the use of tools required to perform the locating function for the training of team members
  • Must be able to handle the physical aspects of the job which may include climbing, lifting and carrying as well as various weather conditions
  • Must be mechanically inclined and proficient with a variety of hand tools
  • Must have good eyesight and not be colour blind
  • Must have a valid G license with a clean driving record
