Job Description

As a Machine Operator, you will operate various machines in the fabrication department.  

Responsibility 

  • Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings (blueprints), and/or work orders.  
  • Operate, and monitor machinery with minimal supervision to ensure proper functioning and production output.  
  • Operate small hand tools, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the job's needs.  
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process and adjust as needed.  
  • Record Production data and maintain logs to track machine performance and output.  
  • Inspect finished products for adherence to specifications and quality standards; identify and address any defects or issues.  
  • Assisting with routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance; identify and report any mechanical issues to the fabrication supervisor.  
  • Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Company rules, policies, and procedures.  
  • Other duties as assigned by the lead hand or supervisor.  

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Academic/Educational Requirements 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred  

Required Skills/Experience 

  • Previous experience as a machine operator or in a manufacturing environment is an advantage.  

  • Experience operating machinery and knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques such as 5S would be considered an asset.  

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.  

  • Basic math skills and proficiency in using measuring tools.  

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs with the assistance of a lifting device.  

  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.  

  • Ability to troubleshoot by identifying mechanical errors.  

  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.  

  • Ability to operate forklift and overhead crane (training will be provided)  

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.  

  • Must be organized, proactive, and maintain a positive attitude in the workplace.  

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.  

  • Maintain clean work areas and equipment.
