Job Description

Service Technician 

 

Summary of Position:

The Service Technician is a vital role at Oxford Hydraulics to ensure the efficient completion of service and repair requests from our customers. Your expertise and skills will be utilized to diagnose, repair, and maintain various types of equipment, including farm equipment & components, harvesters, sprayers, heavy equipment and implements. You will be responsible for servicing machinery both in the workshop and off-site, guaranteeing the highest level of customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct service and repair work to identify hydraulic, mechanical, or electrical issues.

2. Diagnose and troubleshoot problems using a variety of tools, diagnostic equipment, and manuals.

3. Perform repairs, adjustments, and parts replacements on machinery, ensuring adherence to standards and specifications.

4. Collaborate with customers and colleagues to understand equipment issues and discuss repair options.

5. Test repaired machinery to ensure proper functioning and optimal performance.

6. Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime and maximize equipment longevity.

7. Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and history for each service.

8. Keep up-to-date with advancements in hydraulic systems, agricultural technology and machinery, attending training sessions and workshops as required.

9. Support customer service by effectively communicating with the Shop Manager to provide timely status updates.

10. Adhere to safety protocols and ensure the proper use and storage of tools and equipment.

Experience Required

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a technical or vocational program in mechanics or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Hydraulic Technician, Mechanic, or similar role, with a strong understanding of agricultural machinery operation and maintenance. Certificates in 425A, 421A, or 277Z would be preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical and systems found in hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex machinery, using both manual and computer-based diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with equipment manufacturers' manuals, specifications, and parts catalogs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues promptly and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities, ensuring accurate record-keeping and service documentation.
  • Efficient time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workloads effectively.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships with customers and effectively collaborate with team members.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to customer sites as needed.
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
  • Valid driver’s license

 

Health, Safety, Environment, Security

The Service Technician will be fully trained in WHMIS, use of PPE, safety protocols, safe operation of all equipment, and all applicable regulations and legislation as required.

 

Physical Requirements

Lifting not to exceed 125 pounds, ability to sit, stand or walk for varied lengths of time with physical dexterity to perform job.

 

 

Wage Details

$25 - $45 per hour
