Dietary Planner – Permanent Position – Parkside Child Care Centre


Location: Parkside Child Care Centre - 30 Caffyn Street, Ingersoll, ON
Hours: 25 Hours per week; Schedule hours Monday through Friday.
Rate of Pay: Starting rate: $19.19, after probationary period rate increase $19.50
*Wage grid increase based on years of service applicable

POSITION SUMMARY
As the Dietary Planner, you will prepare, and serve nutritious, culturally diverse meals and snacks for the Child Care Centre each weekday (Monday–Friday). This role includes purchasing groceries, food-prep, cooking, serving, documentation, and cleaning duties while ensuring safe and inclusive meals for all children.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
• Create weekly menus that incorporate seasonal foods, cultural diversity, while accommodating all medical, developmental, allergy-related, and religious dietary needs.
• Prepare and serve nutritious snacks and lunches daily for a large group of children in a professional child-care setting.
• Conduct weekly grocery shopping and maintain a well-stocked supply of fresh, high-quality ingredients, while working effectively within an established grocery budget.
• Ensure timely weekly grocery shopping and supply runs (access to reliable transportation an asset).
• Comprehensive knowledge of Safe Food Handling guidelines, best practices, and Ministry/Health Unit requirements.
• Maintain a strictly sanitary kitchen and serving environment, following all required cleaning, storage, temperature-monitoring, and hygiene routines.
• Attention to food safety, allergies, cross-contamination prevention, and safe meal service procedures at all times.
• Work collaboratively as a co-operative and respectful member of the team.
• Communicate effectively regarding dietary needs, menus, and ingredient information.
• Attend Dietary Planner meetings as required.
• Adhere to all licensing requirements as set out by the Child Care and Early Years Act, CCEYA (2014).
• Adhere to all policies and procedures as established by the Board of Directors of Good Beginnings.
• Familiarity with the following curriculum/resources would also be an asset:
o         How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years
o         Child Care and Early Years Act


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Demonstrated experience preparing large-quantity, nutritious meals in a professional food-service environment, preferably child care, school, or institutional settings.
•Safe Food Handling Certificate.
•Ability to reliably travel to and from grocery stores and other supply locations.
•Current Certification in Standard First Aid (Level C), including Infant and Child CPR.
•Current Police Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
•Up-to-date Immunization Records required by the Ministry of Education and Southwestern Public Health.
•Culinary Management Diploma or another relevant culinary/food-service credential is considered an asset.
