Job Description

VALO BioMedia Canada Inc. is looking for an Accounting/HR Manager in Woodstock, ON.
VALO BioMedia is making an important contribution to the health of humans and animals.
We consider ourselves to be an integral part of global health care as a leading producer of eggs
and related biological media, which are used for the production of human and veterinary vaccines
as well as for pharmaceutical research.
As a result, we have a special responsibility with regard to the safety and quality of our products
and their availability, which we actively embrace.
In the past ten years alone, we have invested more than 120 million euros in our global production
infrastructure, software, and quality management.
Today, we supply our customers from a global production network, ensuring that we combine the
advantages of local production (such as local service, short transport routes) with the security of
supply of an international network. This said, we are expanding our network with a new location
in Canada. We are looking for motivated people to join our organization and grow with us.
This person’s primary job responsibilities are to ensure the accuracy and totality of the company
financial statements, completion and compliance of the company human resources
requirements, and to manage the company’s accounting practices, accounting system, and
financial reporting in alignment with local and EW Group Accounting Policies. Specific duties
include:
Accounting – Financial/Tax/Budget/System/Internal Controls
• Oversee all company investments and financial agreements
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with local
financial standards, IFRS, and EW Group Accounting Standards
• Ensure timely and accurate closing of financial books monthly and annually
• Manage Account Schedules, Chart of Accounts, and system specific code sequencing
• Lead the annual budget process and complete monthly actual to budget analysis
• Perform payables, receivables, asset and inventory processing
• Complete all payments weekly, annually, and ad-hoc (domestic and foreign multicurrency)
• Manage corporate bank account and credit cards
• Perform monthly and annual reconciliations including bank, ledgers, and vendor accounts
• Complete financial, item, and statistical entries; develop internal controls to ensure
accuracy and allow for analytical reporting
• Maintain Accounting System User roles, approver set-up, and IT license allocations
• Maintain property tax allocations and company foundation and tax documentation
• Work with Tax service provider to complete domestic and foreign tax reporting
requirements including, but not limited to, corporate income tax, FDII, BEAT, PBC, local
taxes
• Maintain corporate assets and the associated local registration and taxation requirements
• Analyze financials and forecasted revenue to advise on cash flow and corporate financial
risk
• Complete the annual financial audit and year-end IFRS reporting to the EW Group
• Provide ROI and cost analysis to executive team
• Prepare and track costumer invoices and POs
• Assist management team with questions, tasks, reports, and systems as needed

IT
• Maintain technology inventory
• Order new phones and laptops, manage phone plan, and assist with technology setup/appointments
• Communicate group digital security communications and updates to local team
• Interpret system error messages and troubleshoot accounting/production system issues
• Manage and administer accounting system updates, changes, improvements, and issues
• Oversee local IT hardware support
HR/Administration
• Complete payroll hours, posting, and payroll related payments
• Maintain all confidential electronic files and employee information in accordance with
federal laws
• Ensure all payroll related taxes, withholdings, wages, and benefits are paid and recorded
accurately
• Manage workers compensation claim documentation, communication, and reporting with
employee, management, WC company and necessary governmental agencies
• Complete recruiting process, administer annual bonuses, and manage payroll records
• Minimize company risk regarding employment law through knowledge and policies
• Complete vehicle and asset insurance reporting and annual forms
• Perform all onboard duties with new employees including documentation, safety training,
and setting them up in all applicable systems
• Complete documents, unemployment claims, and system requirements for terminated
employees
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Experience in Payroll Processing
5 years of experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and managers.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Ability to operate personal computer, printer, and smart-phone
Operate Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Excel, Word (Navision and SharePoint knowledge is
beneficial)
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions communicated in
written or verbal form. Ability to effectively deal with problems involving multiple variables
in complex situations.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to perform the job under a high pressure environment and meet short time deadlines.
