Job Summary

The Electrical Power Distribution Box Technician plays a critical role in the electrical manufacturing and production process at Lind Equipment. This position is responsible for the assembly, wiring, testing, and inspection of portable power distribution boxes and related electrical products, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and performance standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

Reading and Interpreting Schematics and Blueprints

  • Understand and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to accurately assemble and wire power distribution boxes.

 

Power Box Assembly and Wiring

  • Assemble electrical power distribution boxes by mounting components such as breakers, receptacles, transformers, and enclosures.
  • Route, cut, strip, and terminate wiring according to specifications and standards.
  • Ensure all connections are secure, properly labeled, and neatly organized.

 

Testing and Troubleshooting

  • Test completed power distribution boxes to ensure proper operation, including voltage verification, continuity checks, and functionality testing.
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve wiring errors or component malfunctions.

 

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, company standards, and safety regulations.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout procedures and safe work practices.

 

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate production records, including red-line markups, testing results, and any modifications made during assembly.

 

Material Management

  • Assist with material handling, inventory tracking, and component verification.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

 

Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of electrical principles, power distribution systems, and components.
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters).
  • Knowledge of wiring methods, techniques, and safety practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical and assembly issues efficiently.

 

Communication and Collaboration

  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, supervisors, and production team members.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

Health and Safety

  • Solid understanding of electrical safety standards and procedures.
  • Strict adherence to all company health and safety policies, housekeeping standards, and WHMIS protocols.
  • Report unsafe conditions or procedures to management immediately.
  • Complete and maintain all required safety documentation and report any concerns.

 

Education

Not Applicable

Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical assembly, panel wiring, or power distribution equipment manufacturing.
  • Experience with power distribution boxes or similar equipment is considered an asset.
