Job Description

Tavistock & District Historical Society is a museum and archive resource located at 37 Maria Street in Tavistock. It is open by appointment only. The website is an additional resource that includes:

(1)  Feature stories about people, events and places in our community.
(2)  Background stories on the items in our museum and archives (i.e. historical photographs, documents, physical objects).
(3)  The Lemp Studio Collection - a unique resource of some 4,000 glass negatives.  
(4)  Obituary index, a wonderful resource for family historians.  
(5)  Our "Year of the Veteran" research that resulted in the compilation of the personal histories of more than 500 local veterans.
(6)  Our "Yesterday" Historical Society newsletters that have been published over the years provide insight into what's available for researchers at our museum and archives.
(7)  History on some of Tavistock's historical houses and one-room schoolhouses. A unique look at our local history.

Co-Op Opportunity
Assistance with the cataloguing of a number of historical submissions (i.e. physical objects, photographs and documents). Process will include sorting, creating descriptions, entering them in to main database and then organizing them for storage in the museum.
