Finance Assistant (Full-Time Permanent)

  • LOCATION: 1-871 Dundas St., Woodstock, ON (in-person)
  • START DATE: May 2026
  • HOURS: 35 hours per week
  • HOURLY WAGE: $22.72 to start, with increase to $23.59 after successful probationary period

POSITION SUMMARY
Good Beginnings is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Finance Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Human Resources, this role is responsible for a variety of billing, accounting and administrative support functions that contribute to the effective operation of our organization.

The ideal candidate is professional, organized, approachable, and proactive, with a strong commitment to accuracy and service excellence. This is a fully in-office position; remote or hybrid work is not available.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process monthly child care billing
  • Review weekly attendance sheets and update billing accordingly
  • Complete data entry and financial auditing related to the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) program
  • Communicate with families regarding account balances, overdue payments, and payment arrangements
  • Accounts payable entries and filing
  • Provide cross-functional support within the Finance team, including backup coverage as required
  • Learn and utilize internal software systems
  • Perform additional duties as outlined in the full job description provided during the interview process

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills are required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Effective time management skills

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a combination of relevant education and experience
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in an administrative or accounting role, with exposure to accounts receivable, accounts payable, and/or financial reporting
  • Experience in a non-profit child care setting with exposure to CWELCC and other municipal/provincial funding is an asset
