Position Summary

The Manager, Engineering & Maintenance is responsible for leading and integrating the Engineering and Maintenance functions within a 24/7 manufacturing environment operating under Controlled Goods regulations. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant equipment, infrastructure, and engineering processes while driving continuous improvement, capital project execution, and regulatory compliance.

The position oversees a multidisciplinary engineering team and a full maintenance organization, providing both direct and indirect leadership across salaried and unionized employees. This role is critical in aligning engineering, maintenance, and production priorities to support operational excellence and business growth.

 About You

At our company, we are looking for exceptional individuals who can meet the following criteria:

  • Lead large, multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

  • Balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational demands

  • Drive reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Manage multiple priorities and complex projects simultaneously

  • Influence stakeholders and lead change across the organization

  • Operate effectively within unionized environment

Education & Experience

  • Education: 

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related discipline preferred)

    • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation considered an asset

  • Experience: 

    • 8-12+ years of progressive experience in engineering and/or maintenance leadership

    • Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment (USW preferred)

    • Experience supporting 24/7 operations and high-reliability environments

    • Proven excellence in capital project management and continuous improvement 

Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and industrial systems

  • Deep understanding of maintenance strategies (preventative, predictive, reliability-centered maintenance)

  • Knowledge of capital project execution, budgeting, and lifecycle management

  • Familiarity with safety regulations, Controlled Goods Program requirements, and compliance standards

  • Understanding of KPI’s related to maintenance and operational performance

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and engineering best practices

  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities

  • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills

  • Effective project and resource management skills

  • Strong financial and budget management capabilities

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and alignment

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing environment with exposure to industrial equipment and varying conditions

  • Availability to support off-shift issues as required in a 24/7 operation

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $98,400 - $147,600
