Position Summary

The Payroll & Accounts Payable Coordinator is responsible for the accurate and compliant execution of end-to-end Canadian payroll for both unionized hourly and salaried employees, while also supporting accounts payable functions. This role ensures payroll is processed in accordance with Ontario and federal legislation, collective agreements, and company policies.

In addition, the role supports Accounts Payable activities including invoice processing, payments, reconciliations, and audit preparation. The position plays a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls within a manufacturing environment.

About You

At our company, we are looking for exceptional individuals who can meet the following criteria:

  • Process payroll accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Interpret and apply collective agreements and payroll regulations

  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

  • Work independently and take ownership of payroll and AP functions

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, HR, and Operations

  • Identify process improvements and implement best practices

Education & Experience

  • Education: 

    • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification required

    • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

 

  • Experience: 

    • Minimum 2+ years of Canadian payroll experience (unionized manufacturing preferred)

    • Experience with accounts payable processes and financial reconciliations

    • Experience working with payroll systems and ERP platforms

    • Knowledge of manufacturing supply chains including machining, fabrication, subcontracting, or MRO procurement

Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation (Ontario, ESA, CRA, WSIB)

  • Understanding of collective agreements and union payroll requirements

  • Knowledge of payroll processes including earnings, deductions, remittances, year-end reporting

  • Understanding of accounts payable processes including invoice matching and reconciliation

  • familiarity with financial controls, audit requirements, and compliance standards

  • Knowledge of ERP systems and payroll/time & attendance systems

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data processing

  • Advanced analytical and reconciliation skills

  • Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g. ADP, Dayforce, UKG/Kronos) and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups)

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Effective communication and customer service skills

  • Problem-solving and discrepancy resolution abilities

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

 

Compensation and Benefits

Job Type: Full-Time – Current Vacancy 

Salary: $54,500 - $75,300
