Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing the procurement of key commodities, materials, and subcontracted services to support production, engineering, and operational requirements. This role plays a critical part in ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness while maintaining compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements. The Buyer works collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers to optimize procurement processes, develop supplier relationships, and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain.

About You

  • Uphold ethical procurement practices and confidentiality in all dealings

Education & Experience

  • Education: Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Experience: 3-5 years of procurement experience in a manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or welding environment

  • Assets: 

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, heat treatment, NDT, plating)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • familiarity with government procurement regulations
  • Systems: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics 

Knowledge

  • Procurement principles, sourcing strategies, and supplier evaluation techniques

  • Manufacturing supply chain processes and production support requirements

  • Contract negotiation, pricing analysis, and cost manage

  • Quality management systems and supplier compliance standards

  • ERP/MRP systems and data-driven decision-making tools

Skills

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with focus on relationship building

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for evaluating supplier performance and cost efficiency

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proficiency in documentation management and purchasing recordkeeping

  • Effective multitasking and time management in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range:$59,500.00 To $75,000.00 Annually
