This role is part of the Canada Summer Jobs program and is 32 hours per week over 8 weeks in the summer, starting late May 2026.

 

Position Summary

The Employment Consultant supports the day-to-day delivery of employment services at WERC by assisting clients, contributing to community outreach activities, and helping maintain a welcoming and resource-focused environment for women accessing services.

This role combines front-line client support, reception coverage, administrative assistance, and resource coordination. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping women feel welcomed, supported, and connected to employment and community resources.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Front Desk Support

  • Welcome clients and visitors in a professional, supportive, and non-judgmental manner
  • Support reception and front desk coverage
  • Answer phones, respond to general inquiries, and direct clients to appropriate staff and services
  • Assist with appointment scheduling and client flow
  • Help maintain a welcoming, organized, and client-centered environment

Employment Service Support

  • Provide administrative and organizational support
  • Assist with workshop preparation, client materials, intake forms, and resource packages
  • Support clients with basic computer use, printing, resumes, online job search tools, and navigation of community resources
  • Help track resources, supplies, and program materials

Outreach & Community Engagement

  • Support WERC participation in community events, outreach activities, and information sessions
  • Assist with promotion of workshops, services, and employment-related opportunities
  • Help distribute promotional materials and maintain community resource information
  • Represent WERC professionally within the community

Administrative Support

  • Assist with data entry, filing, scanning, and general office administration
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and organizational information
  • Support special projects and agency initiatives as required

Qualifications

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds with empathy and professionalism
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, and internet navigation
  • Experience in customer service, administration, employment services, social services, or community support is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources and employment services is an asset

Working Conditions

  • 32 hours per week
  • Hourly wage: $17.60/hour
  • Primarily office-based with occasional community outreach and event participation
  • Some flexibility may be required for events or workshops
