Job Description

Medical Assistant (Casual/On-Call)

at the Norwich Medical Centre.

 

The Medical Assistant is essential for support of the daily operations at the Norwich Medical Centre and to ensure a safe and caring environment for all patients. 

 

Reporting to the Manager of Medical Services, the casual/on-call Medical Assistant prepares exam rooms, meets with patients, schedules testing and specialist appointments, helps explain test results, carries out medical procedures and tasks on behalf of Physicians as requested, and other duties as assigned. A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

 

Hours and days of work will vary based on coverage demand during peak times and for vacation or sick time. Regular Medical Centre office hours are Monday through Friday, but the nature of the business requires occasional hours later in the evening and/or on the weekend. There are no guaranteed hours for this position. The pay range for this position is $27.17 to $31.78 per hour. OMERS pension is available (optional). This role is non-unionized. 

 

The Township of Norwich is located within the County of Oxford in the heart of Southwestern Ontario, with beautiful countryside, villages, and productive farmland.

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

  • Completion of Health Care Office Assistant program or equivalent. 
  • Practical nursing and/or experience in family physician office is considered an asset.
  • Valid CPR / AED/ First Aid certification is required.
  • Flexibility with scheduling, both in advance or on short notice.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Detail oriented with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Confident, personable, and professional.
  • Experience with electronic medical records, especially PS Suite is considered an asset.
  • Patient confidentiality is of utmost importance.

 

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.17 to $31.78 per hour. 

 

OMERS pension is available (optional).
