Job Description

LOCATION: Various locations as outlined below (flexibility to work/travel to multiple locations required)

POSITION SUMMARY: The successful candidate will provide care for children from birth to 12 years of age, in a group setting under the direction of Good Beginnings Day Nursery. The role of the successful candidates will be to fill in for employee absences, whether those absences are due to illness, vacation, or other breaks. Typically, there is no established pattern to work hours, and no regular hours are guaranteed. The majority of our programs operate from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm so shifts may fall anywhere within those hours. 

Casual Supply opportunities are available at all of our locations: 

• Algonquin Child Care Centre: 59 Algonquin Rd., Woodstock, ON.

• Community Complex Child Care Centre: 375 Finkle St., Woodstock, ON. 

• Oxford Gardens Child Care Centre: 423 Devonshire Ave., Woodstock, ON. 

• Parkside Child Care Centre: 30 Caffyn St., Ingersoll, ON. 

• School Age Programs: 13 Before and After School Age Programs located in Woodstock, Tavistock, and Ingersoll.

Education

Secondary School Diploma

Experience Required

Required Qualifications 

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education (RECE) or Child and Youth Care (CYC) (formerly Child and Youth Worker), or currently enrolled in one of these programs.
  • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (required for RECE applicants).
  • Valid Standard First Aid Certificate, including Infant and Child CPR (Level C).
  • Current Police Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, acceptable to Good Beginnings.
  • Up-to-date immunization records as required by the Ministry of Education and Southwestern Public Health.
  • Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate.
  • Ability to work at various Before and After School Program locations throughout Woodstock, Tavistock, and Ingersoll.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), 2014. 
  • Familiarity with How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years (considered an asset).

  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures set by the organization’s Board of Directors.

Compensation and Benefits

HOURLY WAGE:

$25.86 Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) 

$19.85 Non-RECE (qualified designation including CYC)

$19.60 Non-RECE (student in related programs) 

(Above wages include Provincial Child Care Wage Enhancement and CWELCC funding where applicable)
