Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Small Engine Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing a variety of small engine equipment, including lawn mowers, compact construction equipment, generators, snow blowers, chainsaws, and other gas powered equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, fuel, and hydraulic system issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventative service on equipment.
  • Repair and replace defective parts and components.
  • Conduct engine overhauls and rebuilds as required.
  • Complete service reports and maintain accurate repair records.
  • Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Communicate repair recommendations and equipment status with customers and management.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.

Qualifications

  • Experience repairing and servicing small engines and related equipment.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of gasoline, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical documentation.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Small Engine Technician certification or equivalent training.
  • Experience with commercial landscaping equipment, compact construction equipment, or agricultural equipment.
  • Welding and fabrication experience considered an asset.
  • Experience with computerized diagnostic tools.

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly wage starting at $22 - 32 per hour, based on qualifications, certifications, product knowledge and experience.
