Job Description

Position Summary

The Fabrication Team is responsible for coordinating and performing fabrication activities including laser cutting, press brake forming, welding, assembly, and material handling. This role combines hands-on production work with shop-floor leadership responsibilities.

The successful candidate will lead by example, ensure jobs move efficiently through fabrication, maintain quality standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and program CNC laser cutting equipment
  • Operate CNC press brakes and perform setup changes
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work orders
  • Coordinate fabrication workflow and job priorities
  • Assist with scheduling and workload planning
  • Perform welding and fabrication as required
  • Verify part quality and dimensional accuracy
  • Train and mentor fabrication personnel
  • Ensure work orders, material identification, and documentation are completed correctly
  • Promote safe work practices and housekeeping standards
  • Communicate production issues and solutions with management
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives

Experience Required

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of fabrication experience
  • Experience operating CNC laser cutting equipment
  • Experience operating CNC press brakes
  • Strong blueprint reading skills
  • Welding experience considered an asset
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Forklift experience required
  • CAD/CAM experience
  • Nesting software experience
  • Ability to prioritize multiple jobs simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Continuous improvement mindset

Quality & Documentation Responsibilities

  • Follow all company quality procedures and work within our ISO-compliant manufacturing system.
  • Read, understand, and follow job travellers, work instructions, engineering drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Complete all required job traveller documentation accurately and legibly.
  • Perform first-off inspections and in-process inspections to verify conformance to drawing requirements.
  • Verify dimensions using measuring equipment including calipers, tape measures, squares, protractors, and other inspection tools as required.
  • Report non-conforming material, parts, or processes to management immediately.
  • Maintain part traceability, material identification, and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure completed jobs are properly tagged, documented, and moved to the next operation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and corrective action initiatives as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company standard
